Valentines Day

So Valentines day is around the corner.  The most romantic time of the year.

There is often cynicism from the men, saying things like “This is too commercial” or “What a load of sentimental claptrap” – however, if you’re in a relationship or looking to woo somebody, there is no better way than to make the 14th a time to remember.

Gents, this is when you have to get it right.  Its all about the love of your life, you take a back seat on this one.  Make your lady feel special.  Obviously there isn’t any set formula to the perfect gift or day, you have to know what your lady wants.  So just really get to grips on what she would like.

Don’t get the saucy underwear if she is really a flowers and dinner type of girl.  Equally don’t buy that massive box of luxury belgian chocolates if she is watching her weight.  Here are our top five tips to getting it right.

Top Five Tips for Getting Valentines Day Right

1. Plan – there is a saying fail to plan and you plan to fail.  Don’t promise things that you can’t deliver.  If you are planning a romantic evening, book the table as far in advance as possible.  If you are ordering a product make sure its with you in time.  If it has a short shelf life, e.g. flowers makes sure your lady is in to receive them.

2. Put in the effort – Make sure you do the legwork up front.  It will be hard work but sorting out things like, who is going to look after the kids is essential to ensure a stress free experience. If you are decorating an area with things like balloons make sure it is done with some care and make it look great, if it is half hearted, then don’t bother.

3. Know what she wants – even if it is a new relationship or you are trying to win a valentines heart, find out what she wants or likes.  Don’t question her in an interrogation style.  Make it part of your conversation.  Some would love nothing more than being whisked away for a weekend in Paris, others would prefer a candlelit dinner at home.  You need to get this right.

4. Make it fun – above everything else the day has to be made fun.  Make her have a good time and give her a laugh.  It shouldn’t be forced romantic

5. Romance – despite the above point, it does need to be romantic, this of all days is the day.  So lose the string vest and jogging pants.  Make yourself presentable.  Give small gestures.  Maybe even leave little notes around the house
